Our Youth Country Coordinator Sheirat Namayanja and Nakalema Immaculate a member of our Youth Advisory Committee were hosted by Next Radio yesterday evening and they had an opportunity to share about the on going 4th National Safe Motherhood Conference and the National Safe Motherhood Pre-Youth Conference. In their remarks , they emphasized the importance of providing youth friendly SRHR services to young or teen mothers in order to encourage them to seek medical or professional help during their antenatal & postnatal period.
They also added that , much as government agencies and different CSOs and CBOs have made great strides towards curbing teenage pregnancies, there’s still a lot to be done therefore the fight continues.
And lastly , in reference to the theme of the conference, they urged community to avoid stigmatizing and discriminatory practices towards young mothers. Working together to support them to rebuild their lives makes all the difference.
