In response to the pressing need to address sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRH-R) challenges affecting young people and adolescents in Uganda, the SRHR Alliance Uganda initiated the Annual Interfaith Dialogues in 2020 that recognizes the influential role of religious leaders in shaping the deeply rooted cultural and religious norms and attitudes towards SRHR.
The dialogues have evolved into a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration and understanding among religious leaders from diverse denominations. Building on the success of the inaugural event, the initiative expanded to encompass regional dialogues in 2021, in partnership with UNESCO and Marie Stopes Uganda.
We collaborate with cultural leaders to promote positive social norms, raise awareness on sexual and reproductive health, and align traditional values with progressive SRHR goals, fostering supportive and inclusive communities.
We work closely with community leaders to advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights, promote gender equality, and ensure that local policies and practices support the well-being and empowerment of all community members. Â
